I have no burning desire to see the Northern Lights or climb some life-changing mountain. Sunrises and sunsets? Pretty, sure. But I enjoy them just fine from my balcony, thank you very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t have a bucket list of places to visit either (yes, I\u2019m normal,&nbsp;<em>rolling my eyes at you so hard<\/em>). Whatever travelling I do is usually for the company, I go where my friends and family go. Apparently, they\u2019ve all been bitten by the travel bug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But,&nbsp;<em>but, but<\/em>\u2026 this new travel trend might actually get me to pack my bags. Because it\u2019s not about sightseeing, hiking, or chasing waterfalls. It\u2019s about&nbsp;<em>sleeping and resting.<\/em>&nbsp;Yep, you heard that right, <strong>sleep tourism<\/strong>&nbsp;is now a thing. And honestly, it sounds like my kind of vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf19 <strong>What Exactly Is Sleep Tourism?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sleep tourism is basically travelling somewhere just to rest. No crazy itineraries, no \u201c10 must-see spots,\u201d no running from one attraction to another. Just you, a fluffy hotel bed, blackout curtains, and maybe a lavender-scented pillowcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luxury hotels across the world from Six Senses to Park Hyatt to sleep retreats in Switzerland are offering \u201csleep packages\u201d complete with soundproof rooms, personalized pillows, weighted blankets, and even&nbsp;<em>sleep concierges<\/em>. Yes, that\u2019s a real job. Imagine calling the reception and saying, \u201cExcuse me, could you adjust my lighting for optimal REM cycles?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\ude34 <strong>Why Everyone\u2019s Suddenly Travelling to Sleep<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Becauseeee we areeee tiredddd.<br>Not just physically tired, but&nbsp;<em>mentally exhausted.<\/em>&nbsp;Burnout, endless screen time, and a constant pressure to \u201cdo more\u201d have left us craving silence and softness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, instead of backpacking across world, people are now booking vacations where the highlight is an 8-hour nap. And for once, I get it. Rest has become the new luxury. Sleep is no longer just something you squeeze in between work and worry, it\u2019s something to&nbsp;<em>celebrate.<\/em> Post-pandemic, the idea of slowing down has become aspirational. The luxury isn\u2019t in how much we do, but in how peacefully we can&nbsp;<em>not do anything.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\uddd8\u200d\u2640\ufe0f <strong>The Irony of It All<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s funny though, isn\u2019t it?<br>We spent years glorifying the hustle, surviving on caffeine and chaos. Now, we\u2019re paying to learn how to rest and calling it wellness. Gen Z calls it self-care. Millennials call it survival. And me? I call it a sign that maybe we\u2019re all going crazy or finally realizing that peace isn\u2019t boring. It\u2019s necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udecf\ufe0f <strong>So, Would I Try It?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Absolutely. Give me a spa, a warm bed, no alarms, and someone else handling the laundry,  I\u2019ll happily call that a vacation. If sleeping, journaling, and meditating in a fancy robe counts as travel now, then sign me up. So yes, I may never climb Everest or chase sunsets in Santorini. But a weekend at a sleep retreat? That I\u2019ll proudly add to my travel plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe sleep tourism isn\u2019t weird at all.
