Lets Un-judge

In my previous workplace, I had a colleague, who was over-friendly with me, she used to like all my pictures on social media and would be over-interested in my life. I found it extremely weird and tried to maintain distance, even making fun of her sometimes, only to learn later that she had lost her younger sister who had the same name as mine and was about the same age as me. This little incident changed something inside me, I felt like I was a horrible person, having experienced loss myself, I had the opportunity to make someone else a bit happy and i missed it because i was too busy judging her actions.

In our daily lives, we often encounter people whose actions or behaviours might puzzle or even irritate us. It’s easy to jump to conclusions and judge them based solely on what we see on the surface. However, what if there’s more to the story than meets the eye?

The truth is, that every person has a unique journey, filled with experiences, challenges, and struggles that shape who they are today. Nobody wakes up in the morning and decides to be the “bad guy”. Nobody is like, “ohh let’s ruin something” Behind every action, there’s a backstory, a set of circumstances, and perhaps even unhealed wounds from the past. Maybe someone is not as strong as one should be to navigate certain situations with ease.

Think about it – have you ever considered what someone might be going through before passing judgment? Perhaps they’re dealing with unrecognized childhood trauma, facing overwhelming pressure, or simply trying to figure out life’s complexities as best as they can.

By refraining from judgment and instead choosing empathy, we open ourselves up to a whole new perspective. It’s about realizing that everyone is fighting their own battles and deserves understanding, compassion, and a second chance.

When we start seeing the good in people, despite their flaws or mistakes, it not only changes our outlook but also enriches our lives. By embracing empathy, we create a more positive and supportive environment for both ourselves and others.

Moreover, giving someone another chance can be incredibly empowering. It shows them that they are not defined by their past actions and that there’s always room for growth and improvement. Imagine the impact of helping someone realize their potential and guiding them towards a better path.

Ultimately, being non-judgmental isn’t just about being nice – It’s about understanding that we are all flawed human beings, capable of both greatness and mistakes.

So, the next time you feel tempted to judge someone, take a step back and consider the bigger picture. Extend a hand of empathy instead of criticism. You might be surprised by the positive ripple effect it creates, not only in their life but also in your own.In a world that can sometimes feel cold and indifferent, let’s choose kindness, understanding, and empathy. After all, being nice isn’t just a virtue – it’s downright sexy.
